The central train station of Salzburg is located just 15 minutes away from the city's historic center.
First opened in 1860, it served as the first big train station on the Austrian-Germany border and Western Austria. Been wholly renovated in 2014, it serves almost 20.000 travelers every day. Learn more about the station in our great article. |
The station had gone under complete renovation from 2009 to 2014 when it got its modern and classy look. But the construction works didn't affect some historical leftovers: the central platform and the station's main hall. Within 15 minutes from the station, you can reach Salzburg's Altstadt - the Old Town.

Travelers who arrive late will enjoy a large variety of hotel options located within close proximity of the train station. There's a great shopping mall called Forum1 with an incredible number of different shops, restaurants, and grocery stores of any kind.

The Salzburg Main Station is situated in the city's center, meaning it's easy to get there. Moreover, it's only 12 minutes walking distance from the Mirabell Palace and its beautiful garden.
